Risk Factors of Seizures in Children

Background: As the most prevalent noncontagious neurologic condition, epilepsy is an important cause of mortality and disability in children, its etiology issue. Objectives: Epilepsy may be induced by different risk factors, some which unclear; therefore, this study aimed to evaluate factors seizures children. Methods: Children with admitted Pediatric Clinic Amir-Kabir Hospital were enrolled study. First, accurate biography parents was taken rule out other differential diagnoses seizures. After diagnosis seizures, based on a pediatric neurologist, demographic information, detailed history seizure, examination, process growth development recorded. Then, we take electroencephalogram (EEG), magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography scans from cases. Results: Of 291 evaluated cases, 54.6% male. Variables associated seizure evaluation showed that generalized tonic-clonic 134 children (46%). The duration lower than 15 minutes 266 cases; addition, 191 (55.5%) had fever before Regarding underlying diseases, 268 (92.2%) no disease. Cerebral palsy (CP) common disease 10 cases (3.4%).
